One way.
4 months agoNews: Download album for free, Madison/Minneapolis shows
Dear lovers,
Hope your summers are going swimmingly. A few items to discuss:
First off, we’ve got a real treat for you today. Oh boy, have we. For a very limited time, you can download our last album, “Laugh, It’s a Fright” for FREE. Go to this link to do so:
http://thechairs.bandcamp.com/
This is for all you cheapskates. We figured since we are cheapskates ourselves, it only figures that some of you may also be a bit “careful” with money. But you can still donate money to the cause, and get a physical (REAL) album in return at our main website (www.thechairsband.com), and remember this deal will only last for a short period of time, after which it will vanish, and you’ll be left staring at the skies, cursing the gods with your fists outstretched, lamenting the day you failed to obtain this piece of mastery.
Second item: Shows! We have a few exciting shows coming up that we thought you should be aware of:
On Monday, August 3rd, we will be HEADLINING the High Noon Saloon in Madison, Wisconsin. This is very exciting for us and we hope to see you there. Amo Joy! and iCARUS HiMSELF are also playing, it should be a great show. It starts at 8:00 pm, there is a $5 cover, and the show is 21+ (sorry younglings, we’ll find a way to you someday soon).
Then on the very next day, Tuesday, August 4th, we are playing at the Uptown Bar in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The show also features the Southtown Avengers, and OceanCats. It starts at 9 pm, it’s FREE, and again it is 21+.
We will be debuting some new songs at these shows, so be sure to check it out.
THEN, on September 19th, we will be performing at the Forward Music Fest in Madison! This is very exciting, as the festival is being headlined by our eternal hero, Andrew Bird, and also features great bands like Low, Margot & the Nuclear So-and-Sos, Ra Ra Riot, and many more. (www.fmf09.com) I’m sure Andrew Bird will come to our show, hang out afterwards, and we’ll become friends forever. So be sure to come. We don’t know exactly when or where yet but we’ll keep you informed.
Over the new few months we will be bringing you some very exciting Chairs news, so stay tuned! This is only intended to build hype and excitement, hopefully verging on pandemonium, as we will divulge no further. information at this time.
Love,
The Chairs
Making progress.
5 months agoNew EP for download
Hello everyone,
So we know there are some people that think “Man, that Chairs album was pretty good, except for that “Horse with Hoof Guns” song, that was terrible. I mean, it’s factually incorrect, for one thing, horses don’t have hoof guns, and never will. Also, songs that end in B major are terrible. Let’s get real here.” To those people, we apologize, because you’re really going to hate this new EP. But to everyone else, I hope you enjoy - we announce the release of the Horse With Hoof Guns EP, released for free download immediately.
The EP is made up of seven tracks, including 4 versions of “Horse with Hoof Guns” — the original studio version, a very awesome remix by Touchy Mob, a live version recorded in Chicago during our spring tour, and the original demo version. Then there are three B-sides from Laugh, It’s a Fright, songs that just didn’t make it on but that aren’t completely terrible.
Hope you enjoy, and again, I apologize to Horse-haters, we’ll make it up to you someday. Minneapolis people, we’re coming to play in your city on August 4th. See you there.

Download our first EP

These links were taken down before the release of Laugh, It’s a Fright, but I thought I would make this available again. Here is our November EP, which includes “Dark Clothes”— “Fire and Ice”—“In the Aeroplane Over the Sea”—“Polly”—-and “I Gotta Go”. We released it back in November of 2008.
6 months agoAnother great review
Big thanks to Tom Williams from Radio Exile for this one, check it out, and check out Radio Exile! I follow it, it’s a great site. And I’m not just saying that because they liked our album. Although if they posted a bad review I’d probably tell you to sign them up for spam lists. But luckily this works out for everyone.
